The Choir of St Mary’s, Maldon is totally free to belong to, with no subscriptions. Choir members enjoy singing fabulous music every week, they receive a first rate musical education (lots of former members have gone on to gain university places aided by their experience in the choir), and they perform with top professional orchestras. They also undertake a tour each year and have visited Italy, Germany, France, New York and Boston. The choir has also sung at Westminster Abbey, Windsor Castle and Norwich, Rochester, Chelmsford, Truro and St David’s Cathedrals. What’s not to like?!On October 14th, the session will start with enrolment, followed by some vocal warm-up games.
On October 14th at 10am, the session will start with enrolment, followed by some vocal warm-up games. We’ll teach participants some songs and some rounds (so that they experience singing in parts).
There will be a short break, during which refreshments will be available. This will be followed by games (pool, table tennis etc), which are available each Wednesday at choir practice. Parents are invited to attend this at 11.30am.
For the final section of the event, adult members of the choir will arrive to provide the alto, tenor and bass lines and the children will have the opportunity to sing in four parts. We will wear choir robes and finish with a short service, during which we will sing the music we’ve learnt. Parents are welcome to stay for the entire event or simply to return for the short service at the end (approximate time 11.30).
No need to register beforehand; just turn up on the day (though we will need permissions and contact details)
