A statement from the Ven Elizabeth Snowdon, Archdeacon of Chelmsford

Read in church at the Sunday morning Mass, 13th December 2020

Following a process of discernment and interview I am pleased to inform you that Revd Asa Humphreys has

been appointed Priest in Charge of Maldon All Saints with St Peter, a post that he will hold in addition to

Heybridge St Andrew and St George and Langford St Giles.

Asa will be licensed by the Bishop of Bradwell at All Saints Church on Wednesday 6th January at 4.00pm.

Attendance at this will be by invitation only due to current restrictions. Bishop John’s P.A. will be in touch further

about this and to confirm the arrangements.

Please hold Asa and the whole Humphreys family in your prayers as he takes on this additional responsibility.

Whilst this is not what was initially envisaged as the way forward for All Saints with St Peters and St Marys with

Mundon we have worked closely with the elected representatives of both St Marys and All Saints, listening and

discussing concerns that have been raised, praying and reflecting together.

We will be moving in the new year to an appointment process for a new stipendiary priest for St Mary’s

working with the neighbouring parishes of Mayland and Latchingdon.

Please also hold churchwardens and those licensed for ministry in each of these churches in your prayers; as

together we seek to bring Gods love to the communities we serve.

Meanwhile, please be assured of my prayers, especially during these uncertain times, that you may know God’s

peace and hope as we place our trust in Him.

Best wishes

Elizabeth
